On May 18, 2009, IIT Madras Alumni Association - Bay Area Chapter (IITMAANA) has organized an event 'Emerging Career Opportunities in India - Perspectives' at TiE facilities in Santa Clara, CA. It was one of our largest panel discussion event held this year thus far, with over 90 participants attended.

The panel discussed a wide range of topics, focusing not only on the immediate responses needed to weather the current economic storm, but also the long term growth opportunities that are emerging in India. First of all, the panelists spoke in turn about points that had arisen in discussions during the event that they felt to be important in discussing various themes and issues about the current economic conditions and career opportunities in US and the importance of pursuing emerging career opportunities in India. In the second part of the discussion, they spoke in further depth about remarks by other panelists and elaborated upon their initial comments besides sharing their own past as well as current professional experience in India. Following the discussion, the event declaration - summarizing the outcomes of the event was adopted. |

The nomination period for the 2009 IITMAANA Northern California Chapter elections closed on March 19, 2009 (Election Announcement). We received one nomination each for the positions of President, Vice President and Secretary. Hence the following persons have been elected unopposed: |

IITMAANA mixer event was held at Pedro's Restaurant & Cantina, a unique California bistro in Santa Clara, CA. We had sumptuous appetizers and drinks in a warm, cozy atmosphere reserved exclusively for our IITM Alumni Association members for the evening. |
